Pop My DuKe!
…But why should I?
One of the peculiarities of any monarchy is how you see portraits of the reigning sovereign all over the place, from shop windows to government administration. Our little Grand Duchy is no exception: His Royal Highness Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg has a subliminal presence in our daily lives, whether we like it or not!
And while the Grand-Ducal Court will obviously only publish formal pictures that adhere to protocol, we – as an art gallery – wanted to lend a more artistic, “poppy” vision to these official portraits, like how masters such as ANDY WARHOL or ROY LICHTENSTEIN might have done. And from this, the POP MY DUKE slogan was born!
We want to use our visual identity to unite all generations through art in Luxembourg.
ABOUT YOURS TRULY
I might have spent 12 years working for some of Luxembourg’s leading financial institutions, but I’ve been an art lover and collector for far longer.
In creating my gallery, I wanted to add a spark to Luxembourg’s art market though an original, unprecedented offering that is more colourful and engaging.
I was bottle-fed on American culture: as a teenager, I was fascinated by “street”. It was the heyday of Streeball, gangsta rap and cult series like 21 Jump Street and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, while not forgetting the beginnings of the graffiti culture that has made some of today’s artists into international stars. From a very young age, I was subconsciously honing my passion for urban art. Now I want to share it with you.
